In an era where young people are drawn to tech, social media, and urban dreams, Bryan Acheampong believes the key to reviving youth interest in agriculture lies in one powerful tool Artificial Intelligence.
At an event held on June 26, 2025, Ghanaian politician and entrepreneur Bryan Acheampong made a bold statement: “AI can make agriculture a youth-driven industry.” Speaking to a room full of professionals and policymakers, Acheampong emphasized the need to fuse modern technology with traditional farming practices to attract young minds into the sector. He noted that for too long, agriculture has been viewed as outdated and unattractive, especially by the younger generation.
However, with the rise of AI technologies like precision farming, smart irrigation, drone surveillance, and data analytics, farming can now be smarter, more efficient, and even profitable.Acheampong urged stakeholders to invest in training programs, innovation hubs, and funding schemes that make AI tools accessible to the youth. “When young people realize they can use their tech skills in agriculture to make real money and impact lives, they will rush into it,” he said.
This forward-thinking perspective could redefine the future of food production in Ghana and Africa at large where AI doesn’t replace the farmer but empowers the youth to lead a modern agricultural revolution.
