The Black Queens of Ghana have booked a slot in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s African Cup of Nations, which is currently underway in Morocco.
The Ghana National Women’s team faced Algeria in the quarterfinals of the competition after making it out of Group C in Second place.
Black Queens hoping to make it to the semi-finals of the Women’s African Cup of Nations for the first time struck first but the Goal was denied after a VAR Review. The team got back stronger after recess but all efforts to penetrate through the Algerian defense yielded no results as the game travelled to Extra Time.
The Algerian team who have scored just one goal in the tournament so far were not sharp enough to find the back of the net against Ghana in the Quarter Finals. After 120 minutes the game travelled to extra time.
Ghana Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan saved two penalties from the Algerian team as the Black Queens scored all four kicks to book a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
Ghana will now face Morocco in the semi-finals of the tournament for a place in the final to decide which country will lift the Ultimate trophy.
