The first day of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) was a powerful mix of nerves, confidence, and quiet determination for thousands of students across the country. For many candidates, it marked more than just the start of an exam it was the beginning of a transition from childhood into a new academic journey that could shape their futures.
In several centers, students arrived early, neatly dressed in their school uniforms, clutching stationery and last-minute revision notes. Some were visibly anxious, others beaming with excitement. Teachers and parents stood close, offering final words of encouragement and prayers a touching display of support and belief in the young ones. Despite the usual exam day tension, there was also a sense of unity and hope in the air.Reports from various schools suggested that the Social Studies paper, the first subject, was fairly manageable for most candidates.
However, some students expressed concern over the comprehension section, while others felt confident they had done their best.Challenges such as late arrivals, minor logistics issues, or personal stress did emerge in a few areas, but overall, day one of the BECE unfolded smoothly. As the week progresses, we continue to cheer on every student giving their best. Their journey is just beginning, and their bravery deserves applause.
