UHAS to be renamed after Late President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills

The Minister for Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, has announced that the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) located in Ho, would be renamed the John Evans Atta Mills University of Health and Allied Sciences after the late former President John Evans Atta Mills .
Honourable Haruna Iddrisu mentioned that A Bill to this effect has been laid before Cabinet as he made the announcement during the inauguration of the university’s new Governing Council at the Ministry on May 28 2025.
The current Minister of Education cited that the renaming is to honour the memory of the late President Mills for his instrumental role in the establishment of UHAS and his unwavering commitment to health and education in Ghana.
The renaming of the University was welcomed by Council Chair, Prof. Kodzo Gavua, as he reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence and nation-building.
The University of Health and Allied Sciences remains a leading institution dedicated to training skilled health professionals for Ghana and beyond.
