President Mahama to reduce 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage fares due to cedi appreciation against the dollar

The president of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has made an announcement that the Prices of the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage are set to be reduced due to the appreciation of the dollar against the Cedi.
Speaking at the President’s “Thank You Tour” in the Bono region, President John Dramani Mahama emphatically stated that Muslims who wish to embark on the 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage will be paying an amount less than GHC50,000.
During the 2025 Hajj Pilgrimage, the then-NPP Government led by Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo reduced the Hajj fares from GHC75000 to GHC62000. In 2026 President John Mahama has assured that Muslims should expect a massive reduction to GHC50,000.
The President stated that this is to help Muslim brothers and sisters in Ghana to be able to embark on the 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage.
