Greater Accra and Ashanti regions record the highest bribery and corruption cases in 2024

A report by the Ghana statistical service indicated that bribery and corruption is more prevalent among males in the country than females, according to their findings published on the “governance series wave 1 report” head of statistics, Mr. Omar Seidu indicated that 55.7 % of Ghana’s population were engaged in bribery activities in 2024.
The report also revealed that several public institutions in Ghana, including the Police Motor and Traffic Division, Police General Duties, Police Criminal Investigation Department, and the Traffic Management Authority of City Guard, were the primary actors involved in bribery and corruption in 2024. The report further indicated that the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions regions the highest number of bribery cases, with 22% and 18.1% of the total, respectively, while the Savannah and North East regions recorded the lowest bribery and corruption cases in Ghana.
The Ghana Statistical Services further pleaded with the government to address bribery and corruption cases to ensure sustainable governance.
