After discussions between Jamaica’s foreign affairs minister, Senator Kamina Johnson and the Ghanaian Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, there has been plans for the Ghana Healthcare and education services professional to have employment opportunities in Jamaica.
After a bilateral agreement was signed between both parties during the organization of the African, Caribbean and Pacific States Conference in Brussels the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Ghana stated that due to Jamaica’s increasing demand for more trained teachers and health professionals, Ghanaians will be granted specialized immigration options to work in Jamaica.
According to the Minister, the Agreement sets a framework to recruit and integrate Ghanaian nurses and teachers in Jamaica’s working population. This initiative dates back to 2020 when Ghanaians were deployed to the Caribbean for working opportunities.
